Kunyit Asam is a traditional Indonesian herbal drink. Considered in need of a rebranding, this project allowed me to redesign the brand’s packaging - a box for the brand’s herbal drink.
On top were the first design sketches of the original variant of the drink. The top alternative was chosen, and later would be developed digitally.
The illustrations on the packaging design portrayed the product’s natural ingredients, which was made mostly of turmeric. The colors dominantly used were yellow and orange - the colors of turmeric. After finishing the design of the original variant, I proceed to make the designs of the other variants. The honey and orange variants.
The mountains and lake on the illustrations described the natural points of the drink. “The ingredients were taken straight out from nature”, “The drink was not chemically processed”, “It’s good for you health and well-being” - these were the messages the brand wanted to convey.
Each three variants had the same primary illustrations, but with slight additions and differences. Using the same yellow and orange colors for the lake and sky, this showed that the variants belonged in the same group, the same turmeric drink.
The original variant had turmeric leaves illustrations, the orange variant had oranges illustrations, and the honey variant had flowers and bees illustrations. These were used to explain which variant was which.
There were three variants in total - the original, orange, and honey.
